Many women like to wear their own maternity hospital gowns, rather than the ones the hospital supplies

Maternity hospital gowns used in delivery rooms are not very comfortable for the mother in labour. The back is always open and many women would prefer a different type of maternity gown to give her a sense of privacy, especially at this time. She is uncomfortable enough as it is. The reason the hospital prefers to have its own gowns is for sterilization and to reduce the possibilities of infection.

There are some hospitals that will allow mothers to bring their own maternity gowns to the hospital for the delivery process. One special kind of maternity gown that is available is the Yokeyes gown. This type of hospital gown is made of a similar fabric to the traditional "Johnny-coats" used in birthing rooms. The difference is that this gown provides more coverage of the body and is comfortable and stylish in the process. Pregnant women can wear these maternity gowns in the last trimester of the pregnancy, while they are in the hospital and during the recovery period.

The Yokeyes maternity gowns are two piece articles of clothing consisting of a top and bottom. They allow access for all procedures required in delivery, while exposing less of the body. These maternity gowns are washable, so any stains will wash out, even blood. This hospital gown is also very adaptable for IV administration, EKG monitoring of the baby’s heartbeat and anaesthesia. This new choice for women is changing the style worn in the delivery room.
